DTC bus timings: when the first and last buses run in Delhi

Updated · 5 min read · Figures from Delhi’s Open Transit Data, imported 18 July 2026

Most Delhi bus routes run from about 5 to 6:30 in the morning until about 9 to 11 at night. Timings differ by route and direction. A limited set of routes, 25 route numbers in the official data, also have night-service trips.

What time do DTC buses start?

The first buses leave their terminals early, usually between about 4:45 and 6:30 am. Routes from big terminals such as Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and the railway stations tend to start earliest. If you are boarding mid-route, add the time the bus takes to reach your stop from its terminal.

Till what time do buses run at night?

The last daytime departures usually leave their terminals between about 8:30 and 11 pm. On many routes the last bus in each direction leaves at a different time, so a route that is still running into the city may already have stopped in the other direction.

How often do buses come?

Busy trunk routes and the Ring Road services come every few minutes at peak times. Quieter local routes can be 20 to 40 minutes apart, and gaps grow early in the morning and late at night. Where several routes share a corridor, any of them may do: plan a trip to see every route between two stops.

Festivals, holidays and diversions

  • Holi: in past years DTC has suspended services in the morning of Holi and resumed them in the afternoon.
  • Republic Day and big events: routes around Kartavya Path, India Gate and central Delhi are diverted or cut short on rehearsal days and on 26 January.
  • Sundays and holidays: most routes run, sometimes less often.

How to check when your bus will come

The open data feed BusPe uses does not include a timetable, so we do not guess arrival minutes. Instead, open your stop page or the live map to see which buses are heading your way and how many stops away they are. DTC publishes route timetables on its services page.
